privacy policy.

matter protocol is a typescript sdk for composing trading strategies. we keep the data we hold about you small, and we never touch your wallets, keys, or funds. this policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

effective 12 september 2026

who we are

in this policy, "matter protocol", "matter", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the team operating the matter protocol sdk and the website at matterprotocol.xyz. we are the controller of the personal information described below. you can reach us at hello@matterprotocol.xyz.

what we collect

matter is in private alpha, and the site is intentionally light on data collection. there are three sources:

the access-request form

if you ask to join the alpha, we collect what you type into the request form:

  • your email address — so we can reply;
  • a social handle and the platform it's on (telegram, x, or github) — so we can look at your past work;
  • your background (e.g. solo builder, quant fund, market maker, agent team);
  • an optional capital range you'd consider deploying; and
  • a free-text description of what you'd build first.

all of these except the capital range are required to submit. you choose what to write — please don't include sensitive information you don't want us to hold.

server and security logs

like any website, our hosting provider records standard technical information when you visit — including your ip address, browser type, and the pages you request. we use this to keep the site running, secure, and free of abuse.

cookies

we set no cookies. this site stores nothing on your device at all. the legal operating-entity details shown on this page and the terms of use are chosen on our server, per request, from the two-letter country code your request appears to come from — nothing about it is written to your browser or kept there.

no analytics, no ad tracking. we do not run google analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers, and we do not use cookies to profile you across sites.

how we use it

  • to review your alpha request by hand and decide whether to invite you;
  • to contact you by email about your request and, if accepted, about your access;
  • to operate, secure, and debug the website; and
  • to comply with legal obligations that apply to us.

where data-protection law (such as the uk gdpr or eu gdpr) applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in reviewing applications and running the site, on taking steps at your request before any agreement, and on legal obligation where relevant. we do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal effects.

non-custodial by design

matter is software you run yourself. when you build and deploy a strategy, it runs under your control, against venues and keys you choose. we never receive, hold, or have access to your wallets, private keys, funds, or exchange credentials. the website and the sdk do not connect to your wallet, and we do not collect on-chain identifiers through them.

who we share it with

we do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. we rely on a small number of service providers to operate:

  • hosting — our site is served by vercel, which processes request data (including ip addresses) on our behalf;
  • email — we use an email provider to read and respond to your request.

we may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of matter, our users, or the public.

retention & your rights

we keep access-request submissions only as long as needed to evaluate them and, where relevant, to manage your alpha access — then we delete or anonymise them. security logs are retained for a short period for operational and security purposes.

depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to obtain a copy in a portable form. to exercise any of these, email hello@matterprotocol.xyz and we'll respond within the timeframe the applicable law requires. if you're in the uk or eu, you also have the right to complain to your data-protection authority.

changes & contact

we may update this policy as matter moves out of private alpha and adds features. when we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. questions about this policy, or anything we hold about you, go to hello@matterprotocol.xyz.
